Gazzetta Font Free Download
There is no Gazzetta font free download for finished work, but there is an official free trial. Gazzetta is a commercial condensed sans serif designed by Edwin Moreira Balladares and published by the Uruguayan foundry TipoType in 2022. TipoType and Fontspring both offer trial files for testing and mock-ups. Anything you publish, personal or commercial, needs a paid licence. As of October 2026 the 16-style family costs $169 for one desktop licence, and paid Creative Cloud subscribers can use a variable version through Adobe Fonts.
Gazzetta font free download: the trial, Adobe Fonts and paid licences
The Gazzetta page at TipoType has a “Free trial” button next to the $169 desktop licence. TipoType’s licence overview says trial fonts are for “testing, pitching or any other non-commercial use” and contain only basic Latin letters, figures and punctuation. The full trial EULA is stricter: it bans “any published or accessible work, online or offline” and any “completed personal and commercial projects”. Read it as a try-before-you-buy file, not a free personal-use font.
Fontspring offers demo fonts on the same basis: for tests and comps, not final projects.
License Gazzetta on MyFonts Commercial font: $169 for all 16 styles as of October 2026
Sites offering a free Gazzetta ZIP have no right to distribute it and can’t give you a licence. If you can’t pay, the free Google Fonts at the end of this guide come close.

Why is the Gazzetta font so popular?
Most people find Gazzetta through Taylor Swift. The title of her album The Life of a Showgirl is set in Gazzetta capitals filled with orange glitter, according to Wallpaper*, which reports that the cover debuted online on August 13, 2025. Fast Company México says the typeface spells out the album name and tracklist, and TipoType’s case study calls it “a key identity element” of the album’s visuals. Make Type Work also spotted it in the “Opalite” lyric video.
Moreira wasn’t involved in the art direction. Latin Times reports that he found out when a friend who is a Swift fan recognised the font and messaged him. Fans soon traced it back to him.
The font has no link to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian sports daily, beyond the word. In Italian, gazzetta came to mean newspaper, (TipoType’s specimen text tells the story of the Venetian coin behind the word). Moreira told Fast Company México he drew on the condensed grotesques used in many newspapers, aiming to “reimagine that functional, utilitarian style for contemporary use.”
Design and character
TipoType describes Gazzetta as “friendly and energetic,” with “softened features and curves, very sharp joins between some strokes, and a slight reverse contrast in its thicker weight.” In plain terms, curves are softened, some strokes meet in sharp notches, and in the heaviest weight the horizontals are a little heavier than usual, which gives the Black a poster-like punch.
On TipoType’s specimen images, round letters such as o and O are squeezed until their sides are almost straight, and the lowercase is tall compared with the capitals. That lets long words fit a narrow column. The Thin is close to a hairline; the Black reads as solid blocks of ink.
Gazzetta Slanted font: what the slanted styles are
Every Gazzetta weight has a matching Slanted style, from Thin Slanted to Black Slanted. TipoType calls them slanted rather than italic for a reason: they are sloped versions of the uprights “with substitutions in some glyphs that seek to maintain an italic flavor.” The letters lean, and some are replaced with more italic shapes.
Names differ between stores, which matters in a font menu. MyFonts sells “Gazzetta Regular Slanted” and “Gazzetta Bold Slanted”; Fontspring calls the regular one plain “Gazzetta Slanted”. On Adobe Fonts, the variable version comes as two fonts, “Gazzetta Regular” and “Gazzetta Slanted Italic”, the second under its own family name, “Gazzetta Slanted”.
Many people search “Gazzetta Slanted” because of the album cover. Some font-identification sites say the title uses a Slanted style, but the press reports and TipoType’s case study don’t name the style, so we can’t confirm which cut it is.
What’s in the Gazzetta font family
- Upright: Thin, Extra Light, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Extra Bold, Black
- Slanted: the same eight weights
- Formats from TipoType: OTF, TTF, WOFF2, WOFF, EOT and SVG
- Variable font: offered on Adobe Fonts (upright and slanted), which listed it in January 2023; MyFonts and Fontspring sell the 16 static styles
Language support and OpenType features
TipoType counts 353 characters and 149 Latin-based languages. Adobe Fonts lists Western European languages plus Filipino, Indonesian and Malay. Neither lists Cyrillic, Greek, Polish or Czech, so check the character set first.
TipoType’s OpenType features, in plain words:
- Stylistic alternates: the specimen shows alternate shapes for Q and g; Make Type Work notes a single-storey a used in the “Opalite” title.
- Case-sensitive forms: brackets and punctuation shift up to sit well with all-caps text.
- Oldstyle and lining figures: numbers that rise and fall like lowercase, or sit evenly at cap height.
- Fractions, superscripts, subscripts and ordinals: for prices and formulas.
- Extras: circled numbers, arrows and decorative quotation marks.
Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Affinity and Figma can switch these on. Canva and Cricut Design Space can’t reach OpenType alternates, so you get the default letters there. The trial files have no OpenType features at all.
Gazzetta font pairings and best uses
TipoType suggests book covers, newspapers, magazines, posters, large-format print, websites and apps. It is a headline face first: titles, cover lines, posters, packaging and music graphics. The lighter weights suit subheads and short captions.
- With a serif: Source Serif 4 or Newsreader give the newspaper feel the name suggests.
- With a sans: Inter keeps body text calm and lets Gazzetta do the shouting.
- Within the family: pair Black capitals with Thin or Light lowercase, as TipoType’s own specimens do.
Gazzetta licensing: personal vs commercial use
There is no free personal-use licence: even a finished fan poster or shirt needs a paid one.
On the Gazzetta page, TipoType sells Desktop licences (priced by number of computers, $169 for one), Web licences (by monthly page views, from $169) and App licences (from $2,873). Broadcasting, e-book, digital ads and other licences are on request. TipoType says buying Desktop and Web together brings an extra 25% off. The desktop EULA lets you edit letters as outlined artwork and give the files to a printer or contractor for your project, but not share or resell them. Fontspring summarises its desktop licence as covering “commercial graphics, documents, and products”.
Adobe Fonts says its library “is cleared for both personal and commercial use” for subscribers. Gazzetta is in the paid-plan library, not the free tier, although Wallpaper* described it as free for personal use through Adobe. This is general information, not legal advice.

Free fonts similar to Gazzetta

None of these is Gazzetta, but all three are tall, narrow sans serifs on Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, which allows commercial use.
- Oswald: a reworking of the classic “Alternate Gothic” sans serifs, with a similar narrow, upright stance. It runs from Extra Light to Bold but has no Thin, Black or italic.
- Antonio: a multi-weight refinement of Anton, very condensed, with straight-sided rounds and a tall lowercase. It is the closest match to Gazzetta’s squeezed shapes and goes from Thin to Bold, again with no italic.
- Barlow Condensed: a slightly rounded, low-contrast grotesk that is a little wider than Gazzetta. It is the only one of the three with italics, in all nine weights from Thin to Black, so it is the best stand-in for Gazzetta Slanted.
For more condensed type, see our guides to Knockout, Hoefler&Co.’s family of condensed gothics, Neukultur, an all-caps compressed sans, and Gameday, a collegiate sans for sports branding.
