The letters don’t sit on a perfectly even baseline, which is clearly intentional, and gives the face a loose, almost carved-in-wood feel. That’s a real limitation if you need a hierarchy within the same family — you’ll be pairing it with something else entirely for smaller text, since Clermont’s own weight range doesn’t stretch that far. It also works for logotypes and short headline treatments where the wobble and weight read as intentional character rather than sloppiness, and for apothecary-style or bohemian branding where a straight, geometric sans would feel too clinical.

It’s less suited to interface work, body text, or anything that needs to stay legible at nine or ten points — the heavy strokes and irregular baseline don’t scale down cleanly. Wedding stationery is plausible for short lines like names or dates, though its rustic tone leans more artisan-market than formal invitation. Treat it as a display and lockup typeface: short words, generous size, and a supporting typeface doing the quieter work around it.
