Kindness Matters: a hand-brushed SVG caps font for warm, textured quotes

Design style

Kindness Matters is an all-caps SVG font built around a loose, brushy watercolour texture. Each letterform carries visible pigment variation, bleed and paper grain baked right into the glyph, so the texture isn’t a filter applied later — it’s part of the character itself. The strokes are uneven and a little wobbly, which reads as handmade rather than templated. Letters lean and bounce slightly off baseline, giving it a genuinely quirky, hand-lettered feel rather than the stiffer look you get from vector brush scripts trying to fake texture with gradients.

Because it’s SVG, the watercolour rendering only shows up properly in apps that support colour/SVG fonts — Photoshop CC 2017 and later, or Illustrator CC 2018 and later. A plain regular version is bundled for everything else, which is a sensible fallback but a much flatter experience: without the texture, the letterforms are simple, blocky caps that don’t carry much personality on their own. The design’s whole appeal lives in that painted surface.

Character set and features

The set is all-caps and covers English characters only, so there’s no lowercase alternate to soften long stretches of text, and no accented characters for other languages. Four bracket-triggered underline swashes are included, accessed either through the Glyphs panel or by typing the bracket pairs with ligatures switched on — a nice touch that lets you underline a word or phrase without having to draw it manually, and it keeps the texture consistent with the letters above it.

Two bonus Photoshop duotone watercolour styles are also included, meant to add a one-click overlay pass over the SVG glyphs. It’s a workflow shortcut more than a typographic feature, and it only matters if you’re already working in Photoshop rather than Illustrator or a browser-based tool. Because there’s no weight or width variation, what you see is what you get: one brushy caps style, one flat backup, and the underline extras.

Use cases

This font is built for short bursts of type — a quote across a poster, a line on a greeting card, a social media graphic, a book cover title. All-caps texture fonts like this tend to fight readability once you push them into paragraphs, and with no lowercase to break up the shapes, longer sentences start to look like a wall of similar-height blocks. Keep it to a handful of words and it holds up fine; ask it to set a paragraph and it won’t.

It suits kids’ branding, handmade or craft-adjacent product packaging, Valentine’s or birthday cards, and anywhere a soft, painterly, informal mood is wanted over something polished or corporate. It’s not a font for body copy, dense editorial layouts, or anywhere a serious or minimal tone is needed. If your working software doesn’t support SVG fonts, budget for the flatter fallback experience — the plain regular loses most of what makes this typeface distinctive.

Kindness Matters delivers exactly what it promises: a genuinely textured, hand-painted all-caps display font for short, warm messages. It's not built for anything beyond a few words at a time, and its best qualities only show up in software that supports SVG fonts. Buy it for quotes and cards, not for body text.
