TAN Mon Cheri Font Free Download
TAN fonts are designed and sold by TanType Co. Tantype is an independent review site — we’re not affiliated with TanType Co. and don’t host or sell their fonts.
Is there a TAN Mon Cheri free download from the people who made it? No. TanType Co. sells TAN Mon Cheri as a commercial font on Creative Market, and we could not find an official demo, personal-use version or free download on any page the foundry controls. If you want the real font with a valid licence, you buy it, and the entry price is $17.
TAN Mon Cheri free download: what the foundry actually offers
The Creative Market listing was created in November 2020 and is where TanType sells the font. When we checked in October 2026 the licence choices were:
- Desktop, $17 per seat: logos, print, merchandise, and images for websites or social media.
- Webfont, $17 list: embedding on websites.
- E-pub, $40 list: ebooks, magazines and interactive PDFs.
- App, $136 list: use inside iOS, Android, Windows or Linux apps.
Small discounts were showing on the last three, so prices may differ when you visit. No free trial is offered, apart from the Enterprise/Custom route through Creative Market’s sales team.
The listing promises .otf, .ttf, .woff and .woff2 files, multilingual support and free future updates. The licensed files behind the specimens on this page contain exactly those four formats, in one Regular style with 407 glyphs.

Design and character
TanType calls TAN Mon Cheri “an elegant sans serif” with “simple letter shapes with playful ligatures, keeping its legibility high.” What the specimens show is a light sans with real stroke contrast. Strokes swell and thin as they curve, much as a serif font’s do, so it looks closer to a fashion masthead than to a typical geometric sans.
The decoration is small and easy to spot:
- The dots on i and j are four-pointed sparkles, and the same star shape replaces the dots on the question mark and exclamation point.
- The lowercase t has no crossbar. A small curl sits on top of the stem instead, which turns “the” and “sweet” into slightly unusual words.
- The W and w cross their middle strokes.
- The A and H have a gently curved left stroke, and the Q ends in a long, looping tail.
Otherwise the forms are plain: a two-storey a, a single-storey g, open counters and tall ascenders. The figures are thin and elegant, with a flagged 1 and an open 4. Because the hairlines are fine, the font looks best large, but the simple skeleton keeps short sentences readable.
What comes with TAN Mon Cheri
- One style: Regular. No weights beyond that, and no variable version.
- Formats: OTF, TTF, WOFF and WOFF2.
- 407 glyphs: upper and lowercase, figures, punctuation and accented letters, plus the ligatures and alternates described below.
- Version: 1.000, per the font files.
Language support and OpenType features
The font covers Basic Latin plus Western and Central/Eastern European accented letters, so French, German, Spanish, Polish and Czech text should all set correctly.
Five OpenType features are included:
- Standard ligatures: replacement shapes for certain letter pairs, applied automatically in most apps.
- Discretionary ligatures: the more decorative “playful ligatures” from the listing. They are off by default; enable them in the OpenType panel or menu in Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop.
- Stylistic alternates: alternative letter shapes, reached through the Glyphs panel in Adobe apps or the typography options in Affinity and Figma.
- Kerning: built-in spacing between letter pairs.
- Fractions: formats 1/4 and similar as true fractions when switched on.
The listing itself says the alternates need “software [that] can support opentype features.” The font has no Private Use Area (PUA) mapping, so in Canva or Cricut Design Space you will see the default characters only.
Best uses and font pairings
TAN Mon Cheri suits beauty and wellness brands, jewellery and candle labels, wedding and event stationery, Instagram graphics and website headings. The sparkle dots are a ready-made detail for logos, so try your brand name and see whether it includes an i or j.
For body text, pick something steadier. Inter or Lato keeps paragraphs neutral. For a classic contrast, Cormorant Garamond or Lora works as a serif companion.
Licensing: personal vs commercial use
Since there is no TAN Mon Cheri free download from TanType, any use, personal or commercial, needs a licence. Creative Market’s font licence page says the Desktop licence covers “unlimited commercial and personal projects,” including physical products and paid ads, as long as web and game uses show the font as a rasterised image. Embedding the actual font files needs the Webfont, E-pub or App licence. Licences are per seat (per user), and you must not share the files. This is general information, not legal advice.
How to install TAN Mon Cheri
- Download TAN Mon Cheri from Creative Market and unzip the archive.
- On Windows, right-click the .otf file and choose Install.
- On a Mac, double-click the .otf file and click Install Font in Font Book.
- Close and reopen your design app.
For Canva, upload the .otf, .ttf or .woff file to your Brand Kit. Canva’s help page says font uploads need a paid plan and do not accept WOFF2.
Free alternatives to TAN Mon Cheri

These three are free on Google Fonts, including for commercial use. All of them are monolinear (even stroke width), so none has Mon Cheri’s contrast or sparkle dots:
- Poppins: a round geometric sans with many weights. Friendlier and heavier, and a good everyday option, but it lacks the fashion feel.
- Work Sans: a plain grotesque that is very readable at small sizes. Choose it for body text rather than as a stand-in for headings.
- Space Grotesk: quirky, slightly technical shapes. It has character, though a cooler, more digital one than Mon Cheri’s.
