TAN Angleton Font Free Download

TAN ANGLETON Font
TAN ANGLETON Font

TAN fonts are designed and sold by TanType Co. Tantype is an independent review site — we’re not affiliated with TanType Co. and don’t host or sell their fonts.

There is no official TAN Angleton free download: the font is sold by TanType Co. on Creative Market, and neither that listing nor any other foundry page we could find offers a demo or personal-use copy. So the useful question is what you get when you pay, and whether a free Google font can stand in.

TAN Angleton free download: the official options

The TAN Angleton listing on Creative Market went up in September 2020. It is the only official source we found, and it sells licences rather than giving the font away. When we checked in October 2026, the options were:

  • Desktop: $18 per seat, for logos, print, merchandise and images used on websites or social media.
  • Webfont: $18 list price, for embedding on websites.
  • E-pub: $36 list price, for ebooks and interactive PDFs.
  • App: $144 list price, for use inside an application.

Creative Market also showed small discounts on the non-Desktop licences, so expect the exact figures to move. The only trial mentioned is part of the Enterprise/Custom option, which goes through Creative Market’s sales team.

According to the listing, a licence includes TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 files, multilingual support and free future updates.

Design and character

The listing describes TAN Angleton as “an elegant combination of serif and serif-italic.” Our specimens, rendered from the licensed font files, show a high-contrast italic serif. Every letter leans, and the hairlines are very fine against the heavy downstrokes.

Several details stand out in the character set:

  • The capital A starts with a long, thin entry stroke that sweeps in from the left, almost like a swash.
  • The lowercase d has a rounded ascender that curls back to the left instead of rising straight.
  • The f and j drop well below the baseline, and the w opens with a small loop.
  • The capital S ends in a curl, and the H crossbar runs out past its left stem.
  • The figures, ampersand and brackets all follow the same slant, so a date or price set in the font looks consistent.

The designer says its “high legibility” suits both display type and body copy. Judging by the specimens, the contrast is strong enough that we would keep body text to short passages at generous sizes, such as an invitation, a pull quote or a product description.

What’s in the TAN Angleton font package

The licensed files we checked contain one style, named Regular, drawn as the italic shown in our specimens. The listing’s “serif and serif-italic” wording could suggest two styles. If you need an upright partner, check the listing’s preview images or ask the shop before buying.

  • Glyphs: 366, with upper and lowercase, figures, punctuation and accented letters.
  • Formats: TTF in our copy; the listing names TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2.
  • Version: 1.00, per the font files.
  • Not variable: no weight range.

Language support and OpenType features

TAN Angleton covers Basic Latin, Western European and Central and Eastern European characters, which handles the accents used in French, German, Spanish, Polish, Czech and similar languages.

It has five OpenType features:

  • Standard ligatures: joined letter pairs that switch on automatically in most apps.
  • Discretionary ligatures: more decorative joins that stay off until you enable them, for example in the OpenType menu of Illustrator or InDesign.
  • Stylistic alternates: other versions of some letters, available from the Glyphs panel in Adobe apps and from the typography settings in Affinity and Figma.
  • Kerning: automatic spacing fixes between letter pairs.
  • Fractions: converts 3/4 into a proper fraction when the feature is on.

None of the alternates use Private Use Area (PUA) code points. In Canva and Cricut Design Space you will get the default letters only. The ligatures and alternates need an OpenType-capable app.

Best uses and font pairings

The slant and swashy capitals point toward wedding invitations, menus, beauty and perfume labels, book covers and editorial headings. It also works as a one-word accent inside a layout set mostly in a plainer face.

For contrast, pair it with an upright sans such as Montserrat, Lato or DM Sans. If you want to stay with serifs, Libre Baskerville or Cormorant Garamond in roman gives you the upright partner the font itself lacks.

Licensing: personal vs commercial use

With no TAN Angleton free download available, even personal projects need a licence. Creative Market’s font licence terms say a Desktop licence covers “unlimited commercial and personal projects,” including physical products and paid ads, as long as the font is rasterised (turned into an image) on the web. Embedding the font in a site, ebook or app requires the Webfont, E-pub or App licence. Seats are per user, and the font files may not be shared. This is a summary, not legal advice.

How to install TAN Angleton

After you download TAN Angleton from Creative Market, unzip the folder. On Windows, right-click the .ttf or .otf file and choose Install. On a Mac, double-click it and press Install Font in Font Book. Restart Photoshop, Word or whichever app you use so the font appears in its menu.

Free alternatives to TAN Angleton

If a TAN Angleton free download was the goal, these three are the legitimate free route. All are on Google Fonts, free for commercial use, and each has an italic, which matters here:

  • Bodoni Moda: similar extreme contrast, and its italic is the nearest match. It is stricter and more vertical in feel, without Angleton’s swash A or curled d.
  • Libre Baskerville: gentler contrast and a sturdier italic. Better for longer reading, less glamorous at headline size.
  • DM Serif Display: much heavier, with a bold, dark italic. It suits loud headlines rather than delicate stationery.
