Fremont Coffee Font Free Download

Fremont Coffee
Fremont Coffee

There is no official Fremont Coffee free download: it is a paid display family by David Phillips, published under his Komet & Flicker label. When we checked in October 2026, the MyFonts listing priced each style from $16 and the full three-style family at $38.

Fremont Coffee free download: what you can and can’t get

We looked for a free demo or personal-use file in the places a designer would normally post one. The MyFonts listing offers none, and we found no demo from Komet & Flicker on any official page. MyFonts does advertise a 30-day Monotype Fonts trial, but that covers Monotype’s own catalog, not this font.

So a page promising a Fremont Coffee free download on a random file site is not offering an official release, and the file may not even be the real font. The legal route is a licence from a retailer that carries the family:

  • MyFonts: styles from $16 each, or $38 for Soft, Clean and Rough together (about $12.66 per style).
  • Fontspring and YouWorkForThem also sell it. Fontspring’s page lists only the Clean and Rough styles, so check which styles you are paying for.

MyFonts says the family debuted on its store on 5 September 2024. Before you pay, type your own menu items into the store’s preview box. It is the closest thing to a free trial, and it shows how each style handles your exact words.

Three roasts: Soft, Clean and Rough

Komet & Flicker describes Fremont Coffee as a font “inspired by the chic menu boards of your favorite hipster coffee shop.” The family ships in three styles, and the listing gives each one a separate job.

Soft

According to MyFonts, the Soft version has rounded letterforms that give it a rustic, well-worn feeling. The designer points it at casual pieces such as coffee shop menus and friendly flyers.

Clean

The Clean version is the sharp one. The listing says it “brings a sharp, contemporary edge to your projects” with a bold, crisp look, and aims it at menus, branding and modern typography.

Rough

The Rough version “captures the gritty, hand-crafted feel of well weathered signage,” in the designer’s words. It is the only style that the listing says comes with two glyph versions. In a capitals-only font, a second set like this lets you vary repeated letters so a word looks less mechanical. Check the glyph tab on MyFonts to see where the second set sits before you buy.

We have not examined the font files, so we won’t describe individual letters. The official preview images on the retailer pages are the best guide to how each style looks.

Character set: capitals only

This is the most important detail on the spec sheet. Fremont Coffee covers:

  • Full A–Z uppercase (basic Latin).
  • Numbers, punctuation and select symbols.
  • Select European characters.

The listing does not mention lowercase letters. Plan for all-caps settings: shop names, menu headings, prices and short taglines. “Select European characters” means some accented capitals are included, but not necessarily every one your language needs. Type your exact words into the MyFonts preview before paying, especially names with accents.

Where the Fremont Coffee font fits

The coffee-shop theme is the obvious one, and the designer leans into it: menus, branding and rustic designs. Some practical pairings of style and job:

  • Chalkboard-style menus: Rough for section headings like ESPRESSO or PASTRIES.
  • Cup sleeves, stickers and bag labels: Clean, where crisp edges survive small print runs better.
  • Event flyers and social posts: Soft, for a warmer, less formal tone.
  • Craft packaging: beer labels, bakery boxes or candle jars that want the same small-batch feel.

Because there is no lowercase, you need a second font for descriptions and ingredient lists. A plain sans such as Source Sans 3 keeps menu text readable at small sizes. If you want something warmer, a serif like Lora sits comfortably under rustic capitals.

Licensing before you print the menu

Fremont Coffee is sold under the licence of the store you buy it from, and each store has its own terms. MyFonts lists separate licence types on its product pages, such as desktop, web and app use. Choose the one that matches how the font will be used:

  • Printed menus, posters, packaging and logos made on your own computer usually fall under a desktop licence.
  • Live text on a website needs a web font licence.
  • Using the font inside an app or an e-book needs its own licence.

Read the licence text on the store page before you buy. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Installing Fremont Coffee

After purchase, unzip the download first. Then:

  • Windows: right-click each font file and choose Install, or Install for all users.
  • Mac: double-click the file and click Install in Font Book.

Install each style you bought. They will appear in your font menu as separate entries, such as Fremont Coffee Rough. Restart any app that was open so it picks up the new fonts.

Free fonts in the same spirit

If you only need the general look and have no budget for a licence, these three Google Fonts are free for commercial use. None of them copies Fremont Coffee’s three-style idea.

  • Bebas Neue is a tall, condensed all-caps sans. It gives you the clean, poster-style capitals of Fremont Coffee Clean, but none of the worn texture of Soft or Rough.
  • Bungee was built around urban signage. It has a stronger, blockier presence and suits shopfront-style headings, though it reads as street signage, not a coffee menu board.
  • Lobster is a connected bold script. It brings a retro diner mood instead of capitals, so use it for a single word, such as a shop name, rather than for menu headings.

For a weathered effect with a free font, designers often add a texture in their design app. That is extra work, and the result won’t match Rough’s hand-made look.
