Engravers Gothic FS Font Free Download

Engravers Gothic FS
Engravers Gothic FS

Engravers Gothic FS free download offers on third-party sites are not official: FontSite Inc. sells this typeface commercially, and we found no free or demo version from the foundry. You can license it on Creative Market, where a desktop licence cost $19 per seat when we checked in October 2026.

A quick naming note before anything else. “Gothic” here does not mean blackletter. In American type naming, gothic is an old word for sans serif, and Engravers Gothic is a wide, capitals-based sans used on stationery, not a medieval-style script.

Engravers Gothic FS free download: the official options

There is no free tier. The Creative Market listing sells licences only; its mention of “trial fonts” refers to Creative Market’s enterprise sales package. We found no free download on FontSite’s own product page or in Fontspring’s listing of the family either. Copies on free font sites come without a licence, which matters for a font that is mostly bought for logos and business stationery.

Buying a licence gets you the FontSite release, which the product description says includes Regular, Bold and Extended styles. Fontspring lists Engravers Gothic FS as a four-style family starting at $12. Creative Market’s FAQ says the download contains OTF or TTF files. Prices differ by store, so compare the two before you license the Engravers Gothic FS font.

What Engravers Gothic is, and why engravers used it

Typewolf describes Engravers Gothic as a grotesque sans serif with “wide, extended letterforms available in uppercase only.” It looks like Copperplate Gothic without that typeface’s tiny serifs, and the wide letters stay legible at small sizes. Typewolf notes the style was “popular with engravers of the early twentieth century,” which is where the name comes from: it was a standard choice for engraved business cards, letterheads and invitations.

The FontSite listing on Creative Market went up on 16 October 2024, and Creative Market files it under Sans Serif. The product description calls it a bold, classic font for business logos and luxury branding that stays readable. FontSite is run by Sean Cavanaugh, who has headed the foundry since 1996 according to type historian Luc Devroye, and it releases many of its typefaces with an “FS” suffix, as with this one.

What’s in the Engravers Gothic FS family

  • Styles: the description names Regular, Bold and Extended; Fontspring counts four styles in the family.
  • Formats: OTF or TTF desktop fonts, per Creative Market’s FAQ.
  • OpenType features: FontSite’s page lists an All Caps feature among those it documents.
  • Language support: FontSite’s page refers to Latin 2 coverage for Central European languages and an Extended set that adds characters for languages such as Maltese and Esperanto.

We could not open FontSite’s page directly, so check its glyph tab for the exact character set and style names before you buy. Note that ParaType sells a separate font called Engravers Gothic. It is a different digitisation, so make sure the licence you buy says FS if this is the version you want.

Good uses and pairings

Because the letters are wide and capital-based, the font works best in short, spaced-out lines:

  • Business cards and letterheads, the job it was originally known for.
  • Law firm, jeweller, hotel or estate-agent logos that need a formal, established look.
  • Small labels, captions and menu headings, where the wide shapes help legibility.

Typewolf suggests pairing it with Albertus. For a free pairing, EB Garamond gives you a classic serif for body text under an Engravers Gothic name block. If you like the look but want other commercial options, Typewolf names Sweet Sans and Sackers Gothic as similar designs.

Licences and prices

On Creative Market, when we checked in October 2026:

  • Desktop: $19 per seat, for logos, print and social images made on your computer.
  • Webfont: $19, on sale at $16.15.
  • E-pub: $29, on sale at $26.15.
  • App: $152, on sale at $149.15.

Fontspring, which sells individual styles, showed the family “from $12” in its listings. Prices on the two stores differ because Creative Market sells the product as one licence while Fontspring prices per style. A desktop licence generally covers using the font to make graphics and print work; putting it on a website or in an app needs the matching licence. Read the licence on the store you buy from; this is not legal advice.

Installing the font

Unzip the files. On Windows, select all the OTF or TTF files, right-click and choose Install. On a Mac, double-click each file and click Install Font in Font Book. Restart Word, Illustrator or your layout app afterwards. If you use the All Caps feature in Illustrator or InDesign, find it in the OpenType or Character panel.

Free fonts people search for alongside Engravers Gothic FS

Many people who search for an Engravers Gothic FS free download expect a blackletter “gothic” font. If that is what you actually want, these free Google Fonts deliver it, under the SIL Open Font License. None of them looks like Engravers Gothic FS, which is a sans serif.

  • Pirata One is a simplified, condensed blackletter that stays readable in headlines, a good choice for tattoo-style posters and band merch.
  • UnifrakturMaguntia is a traditional Fraktur with authentic historical shapes. Use it for certificates, mastheads or anything meant to look centuries old.
  • Grenze Gotisch is a blackletter family with a range of weights, more flexible than the other two for branding systems.

If you want the actual Engravers Gothic look for free, none of these will do; a wide, capitals-only sans is the thing to look for.
